CASE Credit Union (CASE CU) is currently offering two competitive long-term TDAs (Term Deposit Account): a 5-year (3.30% APY) and 4-year (3.00% APY). The minimum opening deposit for either TDA is $500, with no stated balance cap.

Both TDAs are available as IRAs (Traditional, Roth), earning the same APY with the same funding requirements.

Funding can be by ACH or check. Maturing funds can be distributed through a cashier’s check or transferred into another CASE CU account (checking/savings). There is a 10-day grace period before the TDA automatically renews.

As stated in the Truth-in-Savings document, the Early Withdrawal Penalty reads as follows:

We may impose a penalty if you choose to close the account before the maturity date. We may require you to make a complete withdrawal and close the account.

The penalty will be equal to six months of dividends for maturities greater than one year and two months of dividends for maturities of one year or less.

In certain circumstances, we may allow a partial withdrawal from your account prior to maturity.

Availability

Headquartered in Lansing, Michigan, CASE Credit Union's field of membership (FOM) is primarily residency based, with those who live, work, or worship in Michigan's Lower Peninsula eligible to join.

In addition, students, alumni, employees, and pensioners of any educational institution in the Lower Peninsula also qualify for membership.

Members of the Michigan Education Association (a self-governing education association, representing about 125,000 teachers, education support professionals and higher-education employees) are eligible to join, as is anyone who donates to the CASE Cares Foundation ($5 minimum).

The mission of CASE Cares Foundation is to look for opportunities to provide assistance, advancement, and inclusivity for children with disabilities within the greater Lansing area.

Immediate family members of current CASE CU members are welcome to apply.

Joining CASE CU and/or opening a TDA can be done online, or in person at any of six Michigan branches, located in East Lansing, Lansing (3), Okemos, and Vermontville.

To become a member of CASE Credit Union, simply open a membership online or stop by any branch location to open a $5.00 member share which, if you decide to cease membership, is fully refundable. There is a $1.00 membership opening fee as well.

CASE CU participates in the CO-OP Shared Branch and ATM network.

Whether you're traveling or it's just not convenient to come by one of our branches, CASE Credit Union Co-Op Shared Branch locations (centers within other credit unions) extend in-branch servicing of your CASE Credit Union accounts to more than 6,500 locations across the country.

CASE Credit Union has an overall health grade of "B+" at DepositAccounts.com, with a Texas ratio of 6.40% (excellent) based on March 31, 2019 data. CASE CU has an above average capitalization level (10.33%), the result of holding $203.99 million in assets with $30.36 million in equity. Founded in 1936 as the Lansing Teachers Credit Union, the original FOM included Lansing area teachers and school administrators. In addition to serving the 68 Lower Peninsula counties (97% of the state’s entire population), CASE CU is also a Community Development Credit Union “with a mission of serving low and moderate-income people and communities.” Earlier this year, CASE CU announced they had,

received national recognition from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) as an honorable mention recipient of the Alphonse Desjardin Youth Award. This award recognizes exemplary credit union efforts to teach financial skills to the youth in the community.

In addition to also offering free financial education lessons to K-12 students in the Greater Lansing area, CASE Credit Union developed a new financial reality fair for middle students called Money Masters. Money Masters allows students to live a day in the life of an adult, making decisions on needs-versus-wants.

This place is a joke. Tried to apply out of state with the ability to donate to the foundation, and they don’t want out-of-staters at all. That’s their prerogative, but they should explicitly state that somewhere, and not let the application fully process
