I was an early adopter of Chime. I opened my account in 2015 and many people thought I was nuts to make a bank that has no physical branches my main bank. I really liked the app and the interface of the website. Mobile deposits work fine and the Spot Me and Credit Builder features were cool. But I decided to leave them after many years. Why? Well customer service is like non-existent. I did a bank transfer from one of my other bank accounts. It was lost for 6 weeks and Chime rejected it. But their customer service told me nothing. It was my other bank that went above and beyond to help get things sorted out. Also, their debit card network goes down a lot. Sometimes I go to use my card; it declines; go to the app or Twitter and find out their system is down. I've NEVER had such a thing happen with my other accounts. And finally when applying for a mortgage, I found out that Chime's SpotMe feature makes you look like you are over drafting your account. Even though Chime encourages you to use it. So I decided to just move on. Chime is good as a secondary account -- but not as a main account.
I have had a a chime account for years with no issue. They used to have my mobile deposit within hours , now they hold checks for 11 business days , but they say it’s 5!!! This is absolutely ridiculous!!!! Disgusting!!!! I’m so pissed off. DO NOT TRUST THESE CRIMINALS!!!! I caught them in several lies on the phone with customer service. I’m going with capital one!!!
Hi There ??
I'm Jason and I've been a avid and satisfied customer of Chime Services via the Bancorp Bank since 2017 while I waited for my name to clear from CHEX SYSTEMS which I fought with unsuccessfully. I'm happy to have recently learned my personal information has finally been purged from the grips of CHEX SYSTEMS and now I'm finally back in a position to open an account at any regular bank in the world and plan on doing so.
BUT.... I've never received anything except perfect service and experiences with Chime Banking services via Bancorp Bank...
Even during the pandemic I was instantly credited with the government funds that we all got. I've used and enjoyed the $200 Free overdraft protection since day 31 on my account. I've only referred one person who received the $100 bonus in addition to my $100 bonus that Chime made by good on.
So why should I change back to the more expensive banking options, even though some of you have claims that seem legitimate. The only answer I can come up with is that maybe just for insurance purposes I'd better get a traditional low cost CHASE account because maybe my time with Chime just hasn't come yet? I'd value your opinions and I know there's got to be many people like me who haven't experienced any of these negative and harmful things that so many other people have.
