Enterprise Bank of South Carolina is offering two very competitive CD specials: a 2.75% APY 15-month CD and a 3.75% APY 27-month CD. The bank's standard CD rates are also competitive with a 2.00% APY 6-month CD and a 2.25% APY 12-month CD. Minimum deposit is $500. These rates are listed at the bank's rate table as of 7/30/09. Since the rate table has an old date, I contacted the bank today, and I was told that these rates are still available at all of the bank's branches.
A branch visit is required to open an account. Branches are located in the South Carolina cities of Bamberg, Barnwell, Blackville, Cottageville, Denmark, Edisto Island, Ehrhardt, Ridgeville, Springfield, Walterboro and Williston.
The bank has decent ratings for safety and soundness: 3½ stars (good) at BauerFinancial and 4 stars (sound) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 3/31/09 financial data. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1934 (Certificate # 11539).
Thanks to the reader who emailed me news of these rates.
