For almost two years, State Bank of Cross Plains’ (SBCP) Ultimate Interest Checking account has earned 2.53% APY on qualifying balances up to $25k. Qualifying balances over $25k and non-qualifying balances both earn earning 0.01% APY.

Ultimate Interest Checking Qualification Requirements

  • At least 16 debit card transactions (signature).
  • Receive monthly eStatement.
  • Log in to eBank! at least once per month.

The Ultimate Interest Checking has no minimum balance requirement, monthly service fee, or minimum opening deposit. There is no mention of ATM fee reimbursement on the Bank’s website.

Headquartered in Cross Plains (15 miles outside of Madison), State Bank of Cross Plains’ market area is primarily Dane County, Wisconsin, but the Ultimate Interest Checking account is available to all Wisconsin residents through its online banking platform.

Opening an Ultimate Interest Checking account can be done online, or at any of the nine Wisconsin branches located in Black Earth, Cross Plains (2), Madison, Middleton, Mount Horeb, Oregon, Verona, and Waunakee.

State Bank of Cross Plains is offering a reward checking account called Ultimate Checking that pays 3.01% APY on balances up to $25,000 (0.05% for above) if the following monthly requirements are met: 1) 16 debit card signature-based purchases, 2) direct deposit, 3) receive eStatements, and 4) log onto online banking. If these are not met, the rate falls to 0.05%. There are no monthly service fees and no minimum balance.
