Members First CU (NH) Ends 2015 With 15-Month CD Special
Members First Credit Union (Members First CU) is finishing the year with a rate increase on its 15-month Certificate Special (1.35% APY). The 15-month Certificate Special was added to the product line 6 months ago, when the initial APY was 1.25% APY. That rate lasted about one month, and today’s increase is the first rate change since July.
A $1K minimum deposit is required and there is no balance cap. The 15-month Certificate Special is available as an IRA (Traditional and Roth), earning the same APY and with the same funding requirements.
According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is 180 days interest.

Applying for membership and/or opening a Certificate can be done in person at either of the two Manchester branches, by mail (application available for download), or online. (Note: the online application only begins the paperwork and an in-person visit to a branch location is necessary to complete the process.)

Members First Credit Union (NCUA Certificate # 65491) was originally established in 1949 as the Manchester Municipal Employees Credit Union by firefighter John Walsh. Mr. Walsh ran the credit union himself out of a briefcase at the Somerville Street Fire Station in Manchester. The Credit Union found its first permanent home the next year in Manchester’s City Hall. In 1997, the name was changed to Members First Credit Union when the field of membership was expanded to include the residents of a large portion of southern and central New Hampshire.
