Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Tinker Federal Credit Union’s Membership page states, “There are over 700 ways to qualify for membership at Tinker Federal Credit Union!” Here are just a few ways to qualify:

Residency – Individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Oklahoma counties of Payne, Pontotoc, and Seminole, or the Oklahoma City’s Empowerment Zone are eligible to join.

Business Partners – Employees and members of the nearly 900 Business Partners qualify for membership.

Government Employment – Elected officials and employees of the cities of Ada, Arcadia, Del City, Edmond, Enid, Luther, Moore, Norman, Nash, Yukon, or Garfield County or Cleveland County are welcome to apply.

Military Relationship – Military or civilian personnel of the U.S. Government assigned to or works at Tinker Air Force Base or Vance Air Force Base are eligible for membership.

Family Relationship – Immediate family (spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandchild, including step- and adoptive) of current TFCU members or membership-eligible individuals are welcome to apply.

Joining TFCU and/or opening a Share Certificate Special can be done online or at any of 29 full-service Oklahoma branches, located in Ada, Bethany, Edmond (2), Enid, Midwest City (2), Moore, Norman (2), Oklahoma City (9), Seminole, Shawnee, Stillwater, Tinker AFB (4), Tulsa, Vance AFB, and Yukon.

Open a share (savings) account at Tinker Federal Credit Union with only a $5 required deposit and balance and you become a member and part-owner of the largest credit union in Oklahoma.

Tinker Federal Credit Union is Oklahoma’s largest credit union, with nearly 396,000 members and assets in excess of $4.1 billion. What began in 1946 as a small credit union for Tinker Field (U.S. Air Force Base) civilian employees, has grown into the nation’s 53^rd largest credit union.

According to an October 2019 press release,

Tinker Federal Credit Union (TFCU) announces its certification by the US Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. TFCU is the fourth largest CDFI in the country.

To receive this certification, a financial institution must have a primary mission of promoting community development and providing development services in conjunction with its financing activities to low-income consumers and financially underserved populations. CDFI certification allows TFCU to better serve low and moderate-income consumers and promote financial inclusion for all its members. Additionally, this certification covers all areas that are underserved and/or unbanked within Oklahoma.
