Town & Country Federal Credit Union Ups 12-Month CD To 3.04% APY
Town & Country Federal Credit Union (Town & Country) has raised the rate on its 12-month Share Certificate Special (SCS) to 3.04% APY. This week’s addition of 77 bps is the first rate increase since the 12-month (SCS) was introduced in early January. The minimum opening deposit is $500, with no stated balance cap.
The 12-month SCS is also available as an IRA (Traditional, Roth, and CESA), earning the same APY with the same funding requirements.
As stated in the Truth-in-Savings disclosure, the Early Withdrawal Penalty reads as follows:
If you withdraw any of the principal from this account before the maturity date, the principal amount withdrawn will be subject to a penalty for early withdrawal equal to either ninety (90) days of interest, whether earned or not.
Availability
Headquartered in South Portland, Maine, Town & Country Federal Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is residency based, with U.S. citizens and resident aliens who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Maine counties of Cumberland or York eligible to join.
Family members of a current Town & Country member or an individual who meets the above membership criteria also qualify for membership.
Joining Town & Country and/or opening a Share Certificate Special can be done online, or at any of six Maine branches located in Portland (2), Saco, Scarborough, and South Portland (2).
To become a member of the Credit Union, you must complete a Member Application and Signature Card and open a Savings Account. The basic deposit that you must always keep in your Regular Share Account is $25.00.

Originally established in 1953 as the St. John’s Federal Credit Union, Town & Country Federal Credit Union is currently Maine’s fourth largest credit union, with more than 38,000 members and assets in excess of $385 million. The original FOM included parishioners of St. John’s Catholic Church in South Portland. The Credit Union had several “homes,” including the church basement and a neighborhood ice cream parlor, before the first permanent headquarters was built in 1976. Mergers with several other credit unions lead to an expansion of the FOM and in 1986, the Town & County rebrand occurred.
