Nationwide Liquid Certificates of Deposit

POSTED ON BY

After my review of liquid CDs with a discussion of the pros and cons, here's the list of liquid CDs available nationwide. In addition to banks, the list includes credit unions which allow membership via an association open to all. Since the bump-up liquid feature isn't too useful, I'm only listing add-on and penalty-free CDs below. In addition, there are a few liquid CDs which combine both the add-on feature and the penalty-free feature. If you know of others, please leave a comment.

Nationwide Liquid CDs as of 9/23/09:

Add-On CDs (limited to initial deposit)
Add-On CDs (not limited to initial deposit):
Penalty Free Withdrawals:

90 day penalty for early withdrawal with ACU. One West/IndyMac allows 2 withdrawals, each limited to half the current balance. First Republic must leave 10k.

Many current WaMu and Chase CD's from last year allow unlimited add-ons. I stupidly did not realize this when the FDIC guarantee was raised from $100,000 to $250,000. I missed a huge opportunity. I feel like such a fool. I am now scrambling to take advantage of my contractual obligation to add to these CD's, many of which expire--in my case--in about a month.
