Crescent Bank & Trust continues to offer some competitive CD specials. In fact, the specials have improved since my last post on this bank. The most competitive one is the 15-month CD with a yield of 4.65% APY. The others include a 4.16% APY 9-month CD, a 4.75% APY 25-month CD, a 4.85% APY 37-month CD and a 5.00% APY 44-month CD. The minimum deposit is $5,000.

It appears a branch visit may be required to open an account. Branches are located in New Orleans and Metairie, Louisiana.

The bank's financial ratings for soundness show some strength: 4 stars (sound) at Bankrate.com and 3.5 stars (good) at BauerFinancial. Both are based on 6/30/08 data. This is one of the rare times that Bankrate has a higher rating than BauerFinancial.

The bank has been FDIC insured since 1991 (FDIC Certificate # 33492).
