Texas Dow Employees Credit Union continues to offer a very competitive 5-year CD rate: 3.00% APY for a $1,000 minimum deposit and a 3.25% APY for a $100,000 minimum. These rates are listed at the credit union's rates page as of 8/19/2011.
When I last reported on this credit union in March, it also had some competitive 3-year and 4-year CD rates, but those rates, unlike the 5-year CD rate, have fallen.
Credit Union Membership
The only place on the credit union's website where I have found the membership eligibility requirements is in the first page of the online account application. At the bottom, you have to select your eligibility field of membership. Some of the options include areas near their branches. The reader pearlbrown mentioned in the comments that the credit union CSR said membership eligibility is now determined by the zip code and county where you live, work or worship. So if you live in the Houston metro area and you are interested in joining, you should contact the credit union.
