POSTED ON BY

Service Credit Union is offering several promotions in celebration of it reaching $2 billion in asset size. The best offer is a $150 bonus for opening a checking account with direct deposit. There's also a 11-month CD with a 1.00% APY and a refer-a-friend bonus of a $100 gift card. These promotions don't appear to be listed at the credit union's website. They were advertised in Massachusetts newspapers on 5/17/2012. The ad is available online here. According to the small print, the offers are valid until May 31, 2012.

Here's the small print of this checking account promotion:

Must open a ServicePlus Checking account with direct deposit of entire net pay in order to qualify for $150 offer. $150 will be deposited into your eligible checking account when direct deposit is verified.

The ad describes the refer-a-friend bonus as "Tell-a-friend and you will both get a $100 gift card or a gift of your choice". Here's the small print of this bonus:

Individual must be a new member of Service Credit Union to receive a gift. They must be eligible to open a checking account and direct deposit of entire net pay must be verified. New account incentive gifts will result in a 1099-INT to be issued for the value of a gift as income.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s both educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is something too few folks are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy I came across this during my search for something regarding this.
