At the end of last week, East Texas Professional Credit Union (ETPCU) raised the rate on its 60-month Share Certificate (2.61% APY). The minimum opening deposit is $1k, with no stated balance cap.

Added in 2011, the 60-month Share Certificate’s initial 2.50% APY lasted six months. Over the next 30 months, the APY gradually declined to 1.60%, where it remained for the next three years. Last week’s 49 bps rate hike resulted in the highest APY to date.

According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is 360 days interest.

Availability

Headquartered in Longview, East Texas Professional Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is varied, providing a way to join for most East Texas residents.

Residency: Individuals who live or work in Anderson, Angelina, Northern Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Smith, and Upshur Counties are eligible for membership.

Employment: Employees (or certified individuals) working in “education, health care, professional fields, and government/social services” in Camp, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Nacogdoches, Panola, and Upshur Counties also qualify.

Education: Educational employees and students in the cities of Daingerfield (Morris County), and Avinger and Hughes Springs (Cass County) are membership eligible.

Relationship: Family members (spouse, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and in-laws) of current ETPCU members or membership-eligible individuals are also welcome to apply.

Joining ETPCU and/or opening a Share Certificate can be done at any of 12 Texas branches located in Carthage, Gilmer, Hallsville, Henderson, Kilgore, Longview (3), Lufkin, Marshall, Nacogdoches, and Tyler.
