Iowa-based Fidelity Bank & Trust (Fidelity B&T) new rewards checking account, Hometown Hype Checking, was added to the product line this past summer with an initial 2.03% APY on qualifying balances up to $25k. Qualifying balances >$25k and non-qualifying balances both earn 0.05% APY.

The statement cycle qualification requirements include,

  • At least 10 PIN or signatured-based debit card transactions
  • At least two ACH or direct deposit transactions
  • E-Statements with a valid email address
  • Sign into Online or Mobile Banking at least once

The Hometown Hype Checking account has no monthly service fee and can be opened with a $50 minimum opening deposit. Unlimited checking writing is available and a free debit card will be issued following account opening. Nationwide ATM fees will be reimbursed up to an aggregate of $10 per statement cycle, if qualifying requirements are met. There is a limit of one account per Social Security number.

Headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, Fidelity Bank & Trust’s market area covers northeast Iowa and includes Crawford and Grant Counties, Wisconsin and Jo Daviess County, Illinois.

Opening a Hometown Hype Checking account can at any of 32 Iowa branches located in Anamosa, Asbury, Bellevue, Calmar, Cascade, Charles City, Clarence, Decorah, Dike, Dubuque (2), Dyersville (2), Epworth, Guttenberg, Janesville, Lamotte, Luxemburg, Maquoketa, Monticello, New Hampton, Oelwein, Ossian, Peosta, Postville, Stanwood, Tipton, Waukon, Waverly (2), West Branch, and Worthington. There are also two Wisconsin branches (Platteville and Prairie Du Chien) and a single branch in East Dubuque, Illinois. All branch lobbies are open for regular business hours, but Fidelity B&T “may close lobbies or branches when we see an increase in community spread."
