Competitive 5-Year CD at Kitsap Credit Union in Washington State

Kitsap Credit Union just lowered its CD rates, but its 5-year CD remains competitive. It has a 2.05% APY for a $500 minimum deposit. It's available as both regular and IRA CDs. The early withdrawal penalty is 180 days dividends. There's also a 5-year bump CD, but the rate is much lower at 1.75% APY. Reward Checking Account

Kitsap Credit Union also offers a reward checking account called Gold Checking. It pays 2.50% APY on balances up to $10K (as of 4/03/2012). The monthly requirements include 12 debit card purchases, 1 direct deposit (or automatic payment or bill payment) and e-statements. Membership & Application

Credit union membership is open to anyone or lives, works, attends school or worships in Washington State. You can also be eligible to join if you have a family member who lives, works, attends school, or worships in Washington State. Please refer to the credit union membership page for more details. Membership requires a minimum $5 balance in the regular share savings account.

There's an online application via andera.com that allows people to join and open accounts online. In the second page of the application, you can select how you qualify for membership including the option if you have a family member who lives in Washington State.
