OnPoint Community Credit Union is offering a special 6.00% APY 12-month certificate of deposit. The minimum deposit is $5,000, and it requires Direct Deposit to a new or existing OnPoint Checking account. Without Direct Deposit, the APY is 5.75%. New money is required unless you have been a member for 10 or more years.This is a nice improvement to the 5.50% special they were offering in May. Back in October they had a one-day 7.50% CD special with no deposit cap.
Field of membership includes those who live or work in Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington, or Yamhill counties of Oregon. There is a $15 membership fee ($5 of which is refundable when you close the account). A minimum $5 deposit into a savings account is also required.
The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 62745). It's a large credit union with $2.3 billion in assets and 179,707 members.
