Does anyone have any recent experience with SRP? When so, did they experience a hard or soft credit inquiry? Thanks.

The reason I ask is that yesterday when I called the CSR said 'soft'. I called again today to make sure and a different CSR said 'hard'.

I just spoke with a helpful CSR from this credit union. I was inquiring about fees to join the AUSA or Savannah Riverkeepers Association in order to become a member of SRP. Fees to either are paid by SRP on your behalf. The AUSA fee of $40 is for a 2 yr membership. The Savannah Riverkeepers Association ifee of $50 is for a 1 year membership. At the end of those periods, you can choose to not renew your membership with these organizations, but you are still a member of SRP credit union. Good info to know. It's too late for me to take advantage of their 9 month CD special, but maybe they will extend the deadline or offer another special.

After perusing this website for the past few years, it seems to me that the cost of the average non-profit or charitable association used to garner CU membership has gone up significantly. We used to see first-year fees in the $5 to $10 range; now they are $40 and $50. This far outpaces the rate of inflation. Surely this couldn't be profit-gouging amongst the nonprofits? I still fondly recall, through the mist of nostalgia, the $3 membership check I wrote and mailed to a PTA association in rural North Carolina, which afforded me entry to a CU I still use today. Good times!
