West Community Credit Union's (MO) 15-Month CD Earns 2.75% APY

Deal Summary: 14-month No-Penalty CD (2.25% APY), unlimited withdrawals; 15-month CD (2.75% APY); minimum $500 deposit of new money for either.

Availability: Residents of five eastern Missouri counties and the city of St. Louis.

For a limited time, West Community Credit Union (West Community) is offering two CD Specials: 14-month No-Penalty CD (2.25% APY) and 15-month CD (2.75% APY). Both CD Specials can be opened with a minimum $500 deposit and “require 100% of funds as new funds not currently on deposit with West Community Credit Union.”

The No-Penalty CD features unlimited penalty-free withdrawals, as long as a minimum $500 balance is maintained. Interested is compounded and credited on a quarterly basis. Any funds withdrawn will not earn the interest for the current quarter.

As stated in the Truth-in-Savings disclosure, the Early Withdrawal Penalty for the 15-month CD reads as follows:

When the term is greater than one year, the penalty is 180 days of interest.

Excess Share Insurance

Additional coverage up to $250k is provided by the Excess Share Insurance Corporation, a subsidiary of American Share Insurance, the nation's largest private deposit insurer.

All individual share, share draft and share certificates of deposit accounts held by the same member are added together and insured up to the $250,000 by the NCUA and an additional $250,000 by ESI, for a total of $500,000.

Availability

Headquartered in O’Fallon, Missouri, West Community Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is primarily residency-based, with individuals who live or work in the Missouri counties of Boone, Franklin, Lincoln, St. Charles, or St. Louis, eligible to join.

Those who live or work in the Missouri cities of St. Louis or Sikeston also qualify for membership. (FYI – the City of St. Louis is an independent city that does not lie inside any county.)

Employees of more than 40 Select Employee Groups (including several city governments) are eligible to join. Faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Stephens College, or Columbia College are also welcome to apply.

Individuals who have a family member (parent, legal guardian, spouse, son, daughter, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt, first cousin and step, in-law and adoptive relationships) who lives or works in Boone, Franklin, Lincoln, St. Charles, or St. Louis Counties are also eligible to join.

Joining West Community and/or opening a CD can be done at any of eight Missouri branches, located in Columbia (2), Florissant, Lake St. Louis, O’Fallon, and St. Louis (3).

6% 59-Month / 5.75% 41-Month CD at a Missouri CU
Kirkwood Municipal Credit Union has four special certificates. These include a 6% APY 59-month CD, 5.75% APY 41-month CD, 5.25% APY 23-month CD and a 4.75% APY 13-month CD. All have a minimum deposit of $5K and require money new to the credit union. The early withdrawal penalty is 90 days of interest.
