WCCU Credit Union (WI) Offers Competitive Rewards Checking Account
WCCU Credit Union’s (WCCU) rewards checking account, Awards Checking, has been part of the product line for more than eleven years. Awards Checking currently earns 2.50% APY on qualifying balances up to $20k. Qualifying balances greater than $20k earn 0.25% APY, with non-qualifying balances earning 0.10% APY.

The 2.50% APY has been in effect for nearly a year. Since DA began tracking the Awards Checking, there have been seven rate decreases and three rate increases, with APYs ranging between 3.55% and 1.75%.
The monthly qualification requirements include,
- At least 15 debit card transactions
- Be enrolled in online banking and receive monthly e-Statements
- At least one monthly direct deposit or at least one automated transfer (ACH debit or credit, Payroll Credit, or recurring auto¬matic transfer to loan or savings from checking)
The Awards Checking account has no minimum balance requirement, no monthly service fee, and no minimum opening deposit requirement. Nationwide ATM fees will be reimbursed up to $10 per month, if qualifying requirements are met. Unlimited checking writing is available and a free debit card will be issued following account opening. There is a limit of one account per Social Security number.
Availability
Headquartered in Westby, Wisconsin, WCCU Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is community-based, with individuals who live, work, attend school, or own real estate in any of the following Wisconsin counties eligible to join.
Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Juneau, La Crosse, Marquette, Monroe, Richland, Sauk, or Vernon.
Any employee, member or patron of any cooperative operating in any of the above-mentioned counties also qualify for membership.
Individuals who live or work in Dane County, as well as employees, members, or patrons of any cooperative operating in Dane County are eligible to join.
Those with immediate family members who are membership-eligible qualify for membership, no matter where they live. “Immediate family members” are defined in this instance as “spouse, parents, stepchildren and children.”
Joining WCCU and/or opening an Awards Checking account can be done at any of ten Wisconsin branches, which are located in Baraboo, Cashton, Coon Valley, Lake Delton, Prairie du Sac, Reedsburg, Richland Center (2), Viroqua, and Westby or by calling any of the branch locations.
A $5 deposit opens your Member Savings account at WCCU. Your first $5 is a share in the credit union and makes you a member/owner.
$1.00 monthly service charge if balance falls below $50.00 at any time during the month.
