$25 Sign-Up Bonus for Grand Yield Direct Savings Account

Apple Bank for Savings' Grand Yield Direct Savings Account has a $25 sign-up bonus. This has been advertised at Bankrate this week. The promo code is 789 which should be entered into the code field in the online application. I called Apple Bank and confirmed this promotion. According to the CSR, there's no minimum to receive this bonus, and the bonus should post to your account within 48 hours after they receive your initial deposit.

Please refer to my September post for the details of this account. I posted some new details on Tuesday . The rate has recently gone up slightly to 5.27% APY from 5.25%. So it's near the top for a no-minimum savings account.

Hello, I used the bonus sign up code and my initial deposit was posted on December 1st, 2006. It has been five days since then and I have not seen any mention of the $25 bonus. I will email them and see what they say.

UPDATE - I emailed them and got a quick response within 40 minutes (very nice). This is how it went:

Me: "I used the promotional code "789" when I signed up for the $25 sign up bonus, and was curious when this will be posted to my account."

TheAppleBank: "The credit will be made today!"

So maybe if you haven't recieved your credit you should email them to move a little faster. =P

I'm back again. My account was credited the $25 about three hours after I got the email. Awesome. Just wanted to confirm this for others out there.

Ryan, Thanks for the info. It's always nice to confirm that bonuses are actually being paid as promised. Glad they responded quickly.

Just got my pin in the mail. It appears to be the last 4 of your SSN. When I logged in, the $25 bonus was there (I had transferred only $1 from my other acct).

Just signed up at Christmas so the deposit didnt even clear the holiday traffic until today. Hopefully the bonus is still in effect since I signed up last year. I'll let you know

FYI, I was just now (Tuesday Jan 9, 2007, 3:00am EST) checking something at bankrate dot com & Grand Yield's ad for the $25 bonus is still running. I like to document things so I took a screenshot:

Re Apple Bank Grand Yield Savings & the sign up Bonus:

...spoke to CSR today, Jan 9 '07. None of this is new, just an update:

-$25 bonus promo is still running
-No minimum to open account
-No minimum to earn bonus
-No minimum 'keep open' time to earn bonus
-unlimited linked accounts
-statements currently are mailed but in the future may be available online

I am opening an account here too, and so far the process is smooth. I hope the bonus pays smoothly as well - I will follow up.

Any idea what the $40 account abandonment fee means? There is also some $4.95 bill pay feature that applies after 3 months; you have to give written notice that you dn't wish to participate in it.

there's also a $3 regular or $10 same day ACH/EFT charge.

According to the CSR, those fees don't apply to the Grand Yield Account. Note that the documentation discusses things like bill pay which is not applicable to this savings account.

I signed up on January 1, 2007, using the promotion code 789. After 18 days, the account still hadn't been credited. An email sent from the Apple Bank site was responded to quickly, and the bonus was promised to be credited within one week.

Has anyone else had a problem receiving their bonus?

I opened an account with Apple Bank on 1/12, using the "789" promo code. I emailed them last week, when my bonus still had not showed up in my account but have received no response from them and still no bonus.

I'm glad I didn't deposit more than $1 in my account. :(

I opened my account on 1/9, haven't gotten credit yet. I just emailed them, hopefully they will reply.

Please let me know if you receive a response. I'm going to try emailing them again and threaten to withdraw my $1 unless they credit my account with the $25 bonus. ;-)

I just received the $25 bonus. I opened on 1/16. It didn't show up by itself. I called last Thursday. It was credited to my account the next day. The CSR said they first check to make sure the promo code was used in the application, and then they do the credit (which can take 24hrs). I'll do another post about this.

I called today to ask if this bonus is still available and the CSR said no. I'm not sure when the cut-off was.

So according to my call today with Apple Savings, this $25 bonus is no longer available as of 2/05/07
