Competitive Long-Term CD Rates at American Heritage FCU in Philadelphia - Local Only


American Heritage Federal Credit Union is offering several competitive long-term CD rates. The best ones include a 2.40% APY 3-year CD and a 2.80% APY 4-year CD. Minimum deposit is $1,000. According to the credit union's truth-in-savings disclosure, the early withdrawal penalty is 180 days of interest.

They are also offering a 4-month CD special with a high rate of 4.00% APY. However, the maximum deposit is only $2,000. With only a $2,000 deposit, you'll only earn about $27 in this special CD.

For regular short-term CDs, their best deal is a 1.30% APY 13-month CD.

As a comparison to internet banks as of 11/18/2010, the best 3-year CD rate is 2.05% APY at Bank of Internet USA. For credit unions with easy membership, the best 3-year CD rate is 2.27% APY at Melrose Credit Union. The best credit union in Philly for a 5-year CD continues to be at PFFCU which has a 3.25% APY. However, American Heritage FCU currently has better rates for shorter terms.

American Heritage FCU membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and certain other parts of the Metro area.
