5-Year CD Rate Special at Randolph Bank & Trust Company in North Carolina

POSTED ON BY

Randolph Bank & Trust Company is listing a 5-year CD special with a 2.02% APY. Minimum deposit is $5,000, and the maximum deposit is $100,000. There are shorter-term CD specials listed but these rates are not competitive. The 5-year CD special is listed in the bank's rates page as of 10/4/2012. The early withdrawal penalty is equal to six months interest on the amount withdrawn. The bank has a CD chart which lists the early withdrawal penalty and other CD details. Thanks to the reader who notified me of this special.

It appears this 5-year CD special requires a branch visit for new customers. There's an online 3-year CD that's available in several states, but this rate is much lower.

Randolph continues to offer a good deal on a reward checking account that it calls Choice Checking. It currently pays 2.02% APY for balances up to $25K if certain monthly requirements are met. Like the 3-year CD, this is available in several states from the online application.

How This CD Rate Compares

For banks that offer their CDs nationwide, the best 5-year CD rate is 1.90% APY at CIT Bank.

There are 5 all-access credit unions that still offer 2% 5-year CDs (Communitywide FCU, Eli Lilly FCU, Mountain America CU, Pen Air CU and Connexus CU).

You can still get a 2.00% APY 5-year CD at BBVA Compass, but this isn't nationally available. You have to live in the market areas where Compass has branches. These are in AZ, CA, CO, NM, AL, FL and TX.

These rates are accurate as of 10/4/2012.
