Atlanta Postal Credit Union has some high yields on its certificates. The top yields range from 4.90% APY on a 12-month term to 5.00% APY on a 60-month term. Them minimum deposit is $500. These same rates and terms are also available as IRA certificates. According to the rate table, these should be in effect through January 30, 2008.
My last post on this credit union was April 2007 when it was offering CD yields of up to 5.75%.
Field of membership is primarily based on select employee groups. In addition to active or retired US Postal Service employees, several other employee groups are listed. Also, all federal employees, active or retired, working or residing in most 310 and 312 zip code area of Georgia are eligible. Membership requires a $25 minimum deposit into a share savings account.
The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 67389). It's a large credit union with $1.5 billion in assets and 94,550 members.
