ASE Credit Union’s (ASE CU) Kasasa Cash Checking account currently earns 4.07% APY on qualifying balances up to $30k. Qualifying balances greater than $30k earn 0.25% APY, with non-qualifying balances earning 0.05% APY.

The qualification requirements include,.
- At least 12 POS debit card purchases per month.
- At least one Direct Deposit or ACH transaction per month.
- Be enrolled in and review eStatements.
The Kasasa Cash Checking account has no minimum balance requirement or monthly service fee. A free VISA® debit card will be issued. Nationwide ATM fees will be reimbursed up $25 per month (maximum $4.99 per transaction), if qualifications are met. There is a limit of one account per Social Security number.
Kasasa Saver
The companion Kasasa Saver earns 1.00% APY on qualifying balances up to $100k. Like the Kasasa Cash Checking, the Kasasa Saver’s qualifying balances above $100k earn 0.25% APY, non-qualifying balances earning 0.05% APY.

The Kasasa Brand
For those not familiar with the Kasasa brand, Kasasa Cash is a type of Reward Checking Account (RCA) developed by the Texas company, Kasasa, Ltd. According to the Kasasa website,
Kasasa: the free checking account that rewards each month for doing things you already do.
By performing certain actions valuable to your bank or credit union, like using your debit card or online banking, your institution makes more money, which they share with you in the form of rewards.
In case you were wondering, “Kasasa” is just a made-up word.

Availability
Headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, ASE Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM is primarily residency-based, with individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Alabama counties of Autauga, Bullock, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Dallas, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, or Wilcox, eligible to join.
Employees and retirees of the State of Alabama also qualify for membership.
Joining ASE CU and/or opening a Kasasa Cash Checking account can be done online, or at any of nine Alabama branches, located in Clanton, Greenville, Millbrook, Montgomery (3), Prattville, Selma, and Wetumpka.
Opening and maintaining a Membership Share with a $5 minimum deposit is required to establish a new membership.
ASE CU participates in both the CO-OP Shared Branch and ATM networks.

Established in 1954 as the Alabama State Employees’ Credit Union, ASE Credit Union’s founding members included 15 state employees with $265 in deposits. ASE CU’s first home was in the basement of the Alabama State Capitol building. A community charter was granted in 2001, allowing ASE CU to establish a presence in nine Alabama counties.
