Guardian Credit Union’s (Guardian) 60-month CD has been earning 3.30% APY for about 11 months. (CSR stated that no upcoming rate decreased had been announced, but as we all know, a good rate is only in effect until it isn’t.) The minimum opening deposit is $500, with no stated balance cap.

The 60-month CD is also available as an IRA (Traditional, Roth, CESA), earning the same 3.30% APY with the same minimum deposit.
According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is 180 days of interest on early closures; partial withdrawals are not permitted. Earned interested cannot be withdrawn before maturity.
11-month No Penalty CD
Like the 60-month CD APY, the 11-month No Penalty CD 2.02% APY has remained unchanged since October 2018. Unlike the 60-month CD, it requires a minimum $10k opening deposit. The “no penalty” feature applies only to an early closure, with no partial withdrawals allowed.

Headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, Guardian Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is primarily residency-based, with individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Alabama counties of Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Coosa, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, or Tallapoosa, eligible to join.
Active or retired Alabama Army or Air National Guard personnel also qualify for membership.
Joining Guardian and/or opening a CD can be done at any of the 15 Alabama branches located in Clanton, Greenville, Maplesville, Montgomery (6), Prattville (3), Tallassee, Troy, and Wetumpka.
Guardian requires its members to be at least 19 years old (or have a legal guardian on the account until the member’s 19th birthday) and open a Share Account with a minimum deposit of $1.
