IRA CD's must be opened at a branch location, not online.  The fees for transfers and account inactivity are high.

In process of opening a certificate via the online process.  Online application was pretty straight forward......however once submitted,  the CU will require you to upload three additional documents to verify you.......specifically driver license, SSN and utility bill.  This takes addition time and effort and the upload process has to be done sequential.  Its been 4 days since the application was submitted and its still pending.  Interest rates are locked in at application date but start date is on approved. Trust accounts are available but must be opened in branch.....or open as a conventional account and later retitled in trust at branch.  Specific trust documents are required.  As an ex civilian DOD employee it was easy to join.

Followup to above......It seems the three forms of identification requested and provided were insufficient to open the account and Service CU requested several additional..  Tired of being jerked around I simply Instructed them to cancel the account application.  Not worth the additional time and effort for the little gain.  Overall I would not recommend unless you have lots of time and really really really want it.

Service Credit Union's Black Friday Specials

ING Direct isn't the only financial institution offering Black Friday specials. There's also Service Credit Union which is having a Black Friday special with some deposit deals. On the first look at its promotions webpage, some may think the CD with a 10% APY is the best deal. However, the maximum deposit is only $1,000, and the term is only 3 months. So the most you can make from this CD is only $25.

A better deal is the credit union's checking account promotion in which you can earn $150. Here's...
