United SA Federal Credit Union is offering two special share certificate rates. The special 3-year CD rate is the most competitive with a 2.32% APY. The other one is a 1.56% APY 2-year CD. These rates are listed in the credit union's promotion page. According to the small print, the "APY is accurate from February 10 - 28, 2011, or until deposit limit is reached".
The credit union continues to competitive standard CD and IRA CD rates. The most competitive include a 2.99% APY 5-year CD and a 2.58% APY 4-year CD. These are listed at the credit union's rates page as of 2/23/2011.
As a comparison to internet banks, the best 3-year CD rate is 2.00% APY at OneWest Bank. The best 3-year CD rate at a credit union that's easy to join is 2.25% APY at Fort Knox FCU (as of 2/23/2011).
The credit union also offers a reward checking account. I first reported on this reward checking account in October 2007 when it was paying 6.01% APY. The rate has fallen considerably, and it now pays only 1.11% APY for balances up to $25K.
