POSTED ON BY

Deal Summary: 15-month CD Special (1.50% APY, $5k min); 27-month CD Special (1.75% APY, $5k min).

Availability: Residents of Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren Counties, Ohio.

In April, River Valley Credit Union (RVCU) introduced its 15-month CD Special (1.50% APY) and 27-month CD Special (1.75% APY). The minimum opening deposit is $5k, with no stated balance cap.

The 15-month CD Special’s APY equals that of RVCU’s 24-month Jumbo CD ($100k), and the 27-month CD Special’s APY equals that of the 36-month CD.

According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is for either CD Special is 365 days. I questioned such a heavy EWP for a 15-month CD, but CSR checked his data sheet and repeated the 365 days.

Availability

Headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio, River Valley Credit Union’s field of membership (FOM) is primarily residency based, with individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in Butler, Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, or Warren Counties in Ohio eligible to join.

According to CSR, there are more than 200 businesses and associations that “sponsor RVCU services,” enabling their employees and membership to join the Credit Union. Unfortunately, RVCU’s website does not list these organizations; you have to ask if your employer and/or association belongs.

Family members of current RVCU members also qualify for membership.

Joining River Valley Credit Union and/or opening a CD Special can be done at any of nine Ohio branches located in Beavercreek, Dayton, Huber Heights, Kettering, Miamisburg, Middletown, Springboro, Trotwood, and West Carrolton.

RVCU does not have an online application, but does have a Contact Me form to start the membership application process.
