All In Credit Union 9-Month No Penalty CD Remains Competitive
For the past six months, the Alabama-based All In Credit Union (All In) 9-month CD ($1k minimum) and 9-month Jumbo CD ($100k minimum) have consistently offered competitive rates. The 9-month CD currently earns 5.33% APY, with the 9-month Jumbo offering a near market-leading 5.38% APY.
APY | MIN | MAX | INSTITUTION | PRODUCT | DETAILS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
3.82% | $100k | - | All In Credit Union (AL) | 9 Month Jumbo CD (w/ One Penalty-Free Withdrawal) | |
3.66% | $1k | - | All In Credit Union (AL) | 9 Month CD (w/ One Penalty-Free Withdrawal) |
Although All In does not label the CD and the Jumbo CD as such, they are No Penalty CDs. As stated in the fine print on the Savings Rates page,
One time penalty-free withdrawal on 9 month share certificates only.
CSR confirm that a partial withdrawal or an early closure are possible. If a partial withdrawal is made, any subsequent withdrawal would be subject to a 90-day Early Withdrawal Penalty (EWP). As stated in the Fees document, the EWP (for all term lengths) reads as follows
Term Share Certificate – 3 months dividends.
The fine print below the EWP states,
The penalty is calculated as a forfeiture of part of the dividends that have been or would have been earned on the account and applies whether or not the dividends have been paid. The penalty may be deducted from the principal amount of the deposit.
CSR also stated that an advance notice of at least seven days is required before a penalty-free withdrawal can be made. She also mentioned that a subsequent early withdrawal is not necessarily guaranteed and quoted the Membership and Account Agreement (not available on the All In website).
We may at our sole discretion grant you permission to withdraw funds early; if such permission is granted, it will be granted only at the time you request an early withdrawal.
12-month Smart Start CD
The somewhat ambiguously named 12-month Smart Start CD is actually an add-on CD. Currently earning 5.27% APY, the Smart Start CD can be opened with a low $25 minimum deposit. Unlimited additional deposits (min $25/no max) are allowed throughout the term. Additional deposits can be made in-person or transferred from your Share Savings account by either calling All In or using the All In online banking platform.
As of this writing, the 12-month Smart Start CD has the highest APY of any of nationally available add-on CDs tracked by DA in the bi-weekly CD Deals Summary that are not limited by a small balance cap.

In March 2023, I wrote about the All In 60-month Jumbo CD (which sadly no longer has a competitive APY). DA reader, me1004, joined All In, opened a CD, and described his experience in a comment to the March blog post.
@SouthernGirl, It's nationally available, state doesn't matter. I am nowhere near Alabama or Florida. No, they did not raise that issue, but I did mention it in the discussion when she started talking about me being able to make the deposit for the CD at a branch if I want to. It didn't matter to them that I was not in that region.
I don't recall any special questions from the phone call. It was just routine for setting up a new account. In the online application process, they do present you with three questions from your credit check as a means of proving your identity. You also can use a credit card (I think debit card as well) to fund the opening of the savings account, plus the one-time, $1 membership fee. You do not have to maintain that $5 in the savings account, like most CUs require, it can be as low as 1¢. I also opened a checking account, and you must deposit $25 in it to open it, but then you don't need to leave anything in it. I turned down the debit card, there were too many details about using it at ATMs.
I funded the CD via a deposit to my checking account via a shared branch near me. Then phoned and opened the CD with that.
A Share Savings account ($5 minimum) is required to establish an All In membership, along with a $1 one-time membership fee.
All In participates in the CO-OP Shared Branching network. giving members world-wide access.
