WHAT HAPPENED???

Posted by: |

I have been with Wescom since 1997. They have always been outstanding.....until recently. We have had numerous instances of fraud on our account which has resulted in multiple Debit card replacements. I went into the Ontario branch last week for yet another replacement card. The bank teller proceeded to politely threaten to suspend my debit card "privileges". I was willing to overlook this blatant faux pas until this morning. Evidently ALL of my international debit card "privileges" have been suspended. I have family in the UK and REQUIRE a banking institution which is capable of processing international transactions on a regular basis. Two calls were placed to Wescom, only to be told that nothing appears wrong on their end. Currently awaiting a returned call from a supervisor.....it has been over 3 hours now. Needless to say, we are currently shopping for a new credit union. Choose your banking institutions wisely!

Fraud Charged My Account

I called wescom operator, that someone used my account without my authorization, and wescom merchant believed the fraud instead of wescom member, im searching for new bank, smh, after over 10 years, no help at all, thx alot Tracy...for nothing

Wescom is an excellent alternative to big banks

Having had negative experiences with large banks and internet-only services, I turned to local banks in order to find a branch that would meet my expectations. After visiting and calling several, I settled on local bank Wescom, with a branch located near a shopping mall I sometimes visit. I chose to set up both checking and savings by direct deposit, for which they waived monthly fees. I've seen few banks with a restroom, which is very convenient. In the lobby, there's even free coffee. My account also gives me free access to a change sorting machine, which I can use to put in loose change and receive a receipt for which I can exchange for cash or deposit into my account. One day when I was trying to purchase gasoline, my card would not work. After calling the bank, I discovered that someone had stolen the Visa debit card number and attempted to make a fraudulent purchase. The perpetrator only managed to charge about a dollar before the bank immediately froze the account, protecting my balance from being withdrawn. When I came in to report the issue and unfreeze the account, I was issued a new Visa card immediately. The fraudulent charge was soon refunded to my account. I've found their online bill pay feature to be convenient, though it could use some work. The interface could be easier to navigate, though by using this website, I'm able to set up payments months in advance and avoid late fees. I can monitor my account for any suspicious activity, or to make sure that a check has cleared. Though I would prefer that a branch be located somewhat closer, I am able to plan my visits around times I am already in the area.

I like them for the most part

I had a checking account with Wescom for many years. I love their customer service both in person and over the phone. They are always very nice and helpful. I've never had an issue that they didn't fix! Every time I go into the bank they always have hot coffee and cookies which is pretty cool. I just wish their checking account fees was a little bit lower. Plus they don't do business loans which kind of sucks. But overall I like the bank!

Overall a GREAT Credit Union!

Wescom Credit Union has always provided me with outstanding service. I love that their technology is so current. I am able to use my mobile app for just about everything and their extended hours have allowed me to stop by and see their welcoming faces whenever I'm in the area. Did I mention that they have thousands of ATM's that you can use for free? They keep me notified of all of my benefits and if I need to call their customer service line, they are always able to assist me. Becoming a Signature Member was easy and comes with some awesome benefits. I would recommend this credit union to anybody looking for a new place to bank.

Formerly, Wescom Federal Credit Union, was THE very best. The only fairly recent development that I can somewhat complain about is the Fees. The Checking fees can be as much as thirteen USD dollars monthly. For many years these fees were not applicable and would never be incured. After all, Banks and some Credit Unions can borrow money at a rate of ... as low as one point seven five percent, and then go and buy Government issued Bonds that pay two point seven five percent. Money is Free for many banks, and after all this Fiat money is all Counterfit ... Ultimately. :)

Hassle-Free Banking Is the Best!

Over the past 6 years I have been with Wescom, I have absolutely loved all the transactions and times I have dealt with them. Time spent in person with representatives over discussing auto loans or working out how to handle my going abroad and using my debit card has been easy, frustration-free, and generally enjoyable. Their online banking services are super simple and user-friendly. Their rates of return on savings and checking accounts aren't that fantastic, but for what other services you get at Wescom, it's possible to overlook those shortcomings. Overall, I am immensely satisfied with my institution and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid way to bank.

Making Big Banks (Somehow) Look Fair!!! Thanks A Lot, Wescom.

This CU is the most inconvenient bank I've ever worked with.  Ever since their huge multi-million dollar losses in 2008/2009 from their Board of Directors ridiculous investment decisions, the customer service has become impossible, fees have been hiked through the roof, and every customer service person I've had to speak with has had an attitude.  I'm sorry, but the bank's customers shouldn't have to suffer because of a thier executive's greedy decisions..

I closed down my checking account after moving out of state, but still had an auto loan with Wescom.  To my suprise, once I closed my checking account, I'm unable to log in and view any information regarding  my auto loan or make a payment.  Since I don't use checks, now my only option is to call in every month and make a payment over the phone and incur a $15 fee for having to pay over the phone - ridiculous.  I was told they had technical restrictions, which is why I need a checking account to log in and view my auto loan.  These 2 should be separate. I manage web-based computer programmers for a living, and I know it's literally just a few hours of work to fix the system so that someone like me, without a checking account, can log in online and view my account, make payments, etc.  This is straight up extortion....Some gangster moves.

On top of that, every time I do call and give these people my money, INCLUDING FEES, I'm met with an attitude from each representative.

I don't know what I did to deserve this treatment, but I definitely wouldn't recomment banking with them and I've already talked a handful of friends and family members into other credit unions.

At the rate they're going, I'm thinking I should just hold off on making payments until they eventually go bankrupt (which seems inevitable at the rate they're operating that business).

Pretty Decent Credit Union

Credit union is pretty nice. Every time I have gone into a branch the employees are always fantastically friendly. Never had an issue at any of their locations. Checking account was free for the first few years, until I fell out of qualification (age limit 23), but even then, the fee is only $5 a month, not bad. Also, it could be free once again with at least $3,000 in your account. Online banking is quick and easy. I would recommend this credit union to all!
