Banking in the Jacksonville Area

Jacksonville is a large metropolitan hub, filled with corporations and residents alike. Because of the large population, there is a great need for banks. Several banks, some with dozens of branches, are scattered around the city allowing each neighborhood to be properly covered. You'll find a mix of commercial and residential services from nationwide banks, regional banks and credit unions.

19 banks and 28 credit unions have headquarters in Jacksonville. Some of the most notable are EverBank, Vystar Credit Union, Community First Credit Union, First Federal Bank of Florida, and Atlantic Coast Bank. Because of the high amount of tourists and seasonal residents, there is a need for nationwide banks and credit unions to offer branches as well. In addition to the region-specific banking options, you will find Fifth Third Bank, Chase Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank.

Some of the institutions in the area have deep roots in the city, especially in the downtown area. PrimeSouth Bank, which was established in 1891, is the oldest bank in Jacksonville. Look for several financial institutions housed in large, historic buildings.
